The prostate and pelvis: a bodywork demonstration

Video · 5:38

In this video, I use an anatomical model to explain where the prostate sits in relation to the bladder and intestines, then demonstrate a movement through the lower abdomen.

Seeing the relationships in the pelvis

The model lets me show the organs in place and then remove some of them so the lower structures are easier to see. My discussion focuses on the relationship between the pelvis, the surrounding tissues and the way I think about tension in this area.

The demonstration follows with an upward movement through the lower abdomen. I check in with the person about how it feels and give them time to breathe. Watching the contact is more useful than treating a written summary as a set of instructions.

Keep this in its proper context

This is a bodywork teaching video, not a way to assess prostate health or a substitute for medical screening. Sensations such as warmth cannot tell you whether an organ is healthy.

I refer viewers to the eight-pointed star for a broader look at my abdominal work. Both videos are best understood as demonstrations to discuss with a suitably qualified practitioner, particularly if you have symptoms or a diagnosis.

Do not use this video to treat prostate disease, urinary symptoms or pelvic pain. Do not try the technique with active prostate cancer. Seek medical advice before pelvic or abdominal manipulation; changes in urination or other symptoms need clinical assessment.

Notes adapted from Judith’s spoken demonstration. Watch the video for the full explanation.
